Millsboro, Del. –Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health, a leader in providing quality animal healthcare products, including Safe-Guard® (fenbendazole), is pleased to announce the winners of the Safe-Guard® Scooter Giveaway - Charlene Howell from Romoland, Calif. and Diane Burns from Canton, Texas.
The winners' names were drawn at the United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC) Finals in Oklahoma City, Okla. and the World Barrel Racing Productions (WBRP) Barrelnanza Finals in Waco, Texas. Members of and participants at all USTRC, WBRP and United States Pony Club (USPC) events were invited to enter the drawing for the Beamer Matrix II scooters. Visitors to the Safe-Guard® website - www.getrotationright.com - were also eligible to register for the drawing.
"We are always trying to think of creative and useful ways to reward our Safe-Guard® customers," said Brett Whitehead, director of equine and agriculture retail for Intervet/ Schering-Plough Animal Health. "With the price of gas rising to unheard of levels, we thought about offering scooters so horse owners could use them at all the various competitions and events that they take their horses to or just even as a way to ride around the farm or ranch to help conserve gas. The goal was to provide a meaningful 'perk' to avid horse owners and the response to the giveaway was very positive."
"I was super excited to win the scooter," said Charlene Howell from Romoland, Calif. "I was sitting in the stands at Barrelnanza with my mom, Sylvia, and my sister when the announcer called my name. I thought, 'oh no what did I do?' When I realized that they were calling the winner of the Safe-Guard® scooter, I ran down the stairs.
I am going to take it to barrel races, I have been riding in barrel racing completion since I was 5 years old. I am looking forward to using it at the races because most of the time the horse barns are quite a distance from the RV spots and it will sure be nice when I go to take care of my horses. My goal for 2009 is to run at the Martha Josey Jr. World and win! Someday I would like to run at the National Finals Rodeo.
I would like to say a great big 'THANK YOU!' to the folks at Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health, first for the supplying the scooter that was awarded to me and second for being a great sponsor of barrel racing - a sport that I love." The Howell family operates Crown Royal Farm in California which raises horses for both racing and barrel racing. They currently have 30 horses on the farm and are big believers in Safe-Guard®.
"We use Safe-Guard® because we have had really good results with the colts," said Sylvia Howell, mother of the Howell family. "It is easy to administer and the colts sure seem to bloom after the Power-Dose® is used."
Scooter winner Diane Burns from Canton, Texas entered the scooter drawing at the Safe-Guard® booth at the USTRC finals.
"I am very excited about winning the scooter - I could not believe that out of everyone there I was the winner," said Diane Burns. "I have been roping for 15 years and riding horses for 45 years. I plan on riding the scooter at the roping events and my granddaughters are also excited about that too. I have used Safe-Guard® for years. It is a great option for deworming our horses. I really want to thank Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health for having the scooter giveaway and also for their sponsorship of the USTRC."
Safe-Guard® (fenbendazole) equine dewormers have set the industry standard for safe and effective parasite control in horses and are used by thousands of horse owners across the country to keep their horses healthy.
"Today the investment that team ropers have in their animals is considerable," said John Findlay, USTRC marketing director. "That along with the affection our members continue to have for their four-legged roping partners has led to an increased recognition of the importance of proper management and health care. Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health not only provides a vast array of animal health products to address these concerns, but also gets out in front of potential problems with timely and trusted prevention information."
